Smart cities need intelligent minds and fertile ground to nourish good ideas and put them into practice. Vienna accordingly has embraced clear research and technology policies and has taken firm steps to include people, research institutions and businesses in the “smart city” process. CASE is representing a best practice example to implement the Smart City Vienna Framework Strategy in the area of education and research.
The CASE Knowledge Alliances is particularly relevant as a contribution for the Smart City of Vienna, as it brings together by means of innovative forms of organization scientific (universities) and non-scientific stakeholders (companies, initiatives, NGOs, etc.) of society and implements transdisciplinary approaches in practice. Social robust knowledge is identified and social innovations are encouraged by the focus on the improvement of social relations, social problems and needs.
