Manuela Fried

Ministry of Science, Research and Econony

Bio

Manuela Fried holds a Master´s degree in biology and pedagogy. She has acquired practical experience in different fields of international academic cooperation, both in secondary and higher education.She has held positions in the Ministry of Education as well as the one responsible for higher education. Ms. Fried also worked with the Austrian Foreign Exchange Service (OEAD) with a focus on preparing programme applications for calls within the EU Education Programmes. She currently heads the department responsible for EU higher education programmes and the European higher Education Area/Bologna Process in the Ministry of Science, Research and Econony, where her main interests are the promotion of mobility of higher education students, teachers/young researchers and staff, as well as the internationalization of Austrian higher education institutions.

Ilse Stockinger

Bio

Ilse Stockinger started her career as a lawyer. In 2002, she became an expert in commercial law at the Wiener Stadtwerke. Three years later, she became Managing Director of Wiener Stadtwerke Beteiligungsmanagement GmbH (2005-2012). 2011-2016 Dr. Stockinger was Head of Research, Technology and Innovation at the Stadtwerke Group. In recent years, she has initiated several outstanding R&D projects. In addition, Ilse Stockinger was Managing Director of Neue Urbane Mobilität Wien GmbH (2011-2016), where she designed and carried out several research projects in the mobility sector. Since 2017, Dr. Stockinger is responsible for the area Smart Cities & Regions in the Innovation Management division, where relevant activities are coordinated in the Smart City Vienna context.

Bettina Steinbrugger

Bettina Steinbrugger was born in 1984 in Klagenfurt/Austria. After her studies of roman languages in Graz and Toulouse, Bettina worked as a project manager for Austrias leading platform for Corporate Social Responsibility. With that experience, she decided to create her own sustainable business and founded erdbeerwoche – a platform and onlineshop for sustainable feminine hygiene – in 2011, together with her co-founder Annemarie Harant. Today, Bettina is CEO and responsible for communications, marketing and sales.

Annemarie Harant

Bio

Annemarie Harant was born in 1984 in Munich/Germany. She studied international relations as well as economics in Vienna where she soon started her career in the sustainability area as a consultant. Together with Bettina Steinbrugger, she founded erdbeerwoche in 2011 and since then she has been working as CEO – responsible for finance, sourcing and collaborations.

Rudolf Dömötör

Entrepreneurship Center

Bio

Rudolf Dömötör is the director of the WU Gründungszentrum (Entrepreneurship Center) and Managing Director of the ECN (Entrepreneurship Center Network), which aims to promote interdisciplinary and university-wide student start-up activities. He has been actively involved in the Austrian start-up scene for many years – initially as a university assistant at the Institute for Entrepreneurship and Innovation at the Vienna University of Economics and Business Administration, later as the founder and managing director of the start-up consultancy agency “innovationsmotor e.U.”. He studied business administration at the Vienna University of Economics and Business and the University of Technology Sydney, and spent several months at George Washington University (USA) and the University of Canterbury (NZ).

Theresa Imre

Bio

Theresa Imre is the CEO and founder of the social start-up markta.at. Following the principles of the sharing economy, markta connects producers of regional food products with consumers on a digital community platform, thus creating an alternative food network. As a student of the master program Socio-Ecological Economics and Policy (SEEP) at the Vienna University of Economics and Business, she follows holistic approaches and integrates social as well as environmental aspects into her business concept. Currently she is also working on a research project with the UNEP, to assess the role of women on mountain farms and their attitudes towards sustainable development.

Kathrin Brunner-Hürner

Bio

Kathrin Brunner-Hürner graduated from “Product Marketing & Innovation Management” at the University of Applied Sciences Wr. Neustadt, Campus Wieselburg. During her one-year stay abroad at Yonsei University in South Korea, she gained valuable experience studying abroad. In 2012, she began her professional career at Wien Energie GmbH in the Public Affairs department. After two-years activity in this area, she joined Wiener Stadtwerke Holding AG and has been active in strategic innovation management since then. As deputy head of the department, she and her colleagues are now pushing ahead the subject of innovation within the concern and actively shape the future of the Wiener Stadtwerke Group.

Jenny Kuhn

Bio

Jenny Kuhn works in project and volunteer management at Social City Wien, a platform for social innovation in Vienna, and is Head of Members and Partnership at imfino – Impact Finance Organization. For over 10 years she was active at the international peace organization Service Civil International, a member of the Austrian board and a trainer and seminar leader on peace education and volunteer management. She studied Development Studies at the University of Vienna.

Johanna Bernhardt

Bio

Johanna Bernhardt graduated in Business Education and Geography at University of Innsbruck. Her professional career she started as a consultant for start ups. Later she worked for the Standortagentur Tirol (Business Location Agency Tyrol) as consultant for regional development and science-business cooperations. Currently she works for Terra Institute, Brixen as coordinator of the RCE (Regional Competence Centre for Education on Sustainable Development) European Region Tyrol and project manager of the project CASE.

Jan Činčera

Masaryk University Brno

Bio

Jan Činčera is Associate Professor at the Department of Environmental Studies, Faculty of Social Studies at Masaryk University, Brno, Czech Republic. He focuses on environmental education theory, research, and instructional strategies. His main interest lies in analyzing instructional strategies that help achieve the goals of environmental education. He is the author of a set of nationally certified guidelines for program evaluation. He cooperates with environmental education centers in the Czech Republic and other countries. In the CASE project he was responsible for evaluation of the both process and outputs of the project.

Michal Medek

Kapraluv mlyn

Bio

Michal Medek – apart of being director of the Kapraluv mlyn environmental education centre, Michal teaches environmental education and heritage interpretation at two faculties of Masaryk University, Brno. Heritage interpretation became his main field of academical interest as it connects his passion for natural history (MSc. in geography, biology and geology) and humanities (MA environmental humanities). Endowed with PgCert from University of Highlands and Islands Michal is pioneering the field in the Czech Republic as director of the Czech Institute for Heritage Interpretation.

Marco Rieckmann

University of Vechta, Germany

Bio

Marco Rieckmann is Professor of Higher Education Development at the University of Vechta, Germany. He holds a doctoral degree in educational research. His major research and teaching interests are: higher education, competence development and assessment, (higher) education for sustainable development, and global education. He is the Vice-President of the Commission ‘Education for Sustainable Development’ of the German Educational Research Association (GERA), Representative of GERA in the Council of the European Educational Research Association (EERA), and Member of the Convenors Group of the EERA Network ‘Environmental and Sustainability Education Research‘.

Johan Boman

University of Gothenburg

Bio

Johan Boman is since 2011 professor in atmospheric science at University of Gothenburg, with special focus on air and life quality in urban areas in developing countries. Johan also works with education for sustainable development at the Science faculty and at the Centre for Environment and Sustainability.

Petra Biberhofer

Vienna University of Economics and Business

Bio

Petra Biberhofer is a lecturer and research assistant at the Vienna University of Economics and Business, Department for Socioeconomics since 2012. She studied political science at University of Vienna and Uppsala University, Sweden. In her current work at the Institute for Ecological Economics/RCE Vienna and her PhD, she focuses on the promotion of learning processes through transdisciplinary learning platforms at the interface between science and society. Her research interests are (higher) education for sustainable development, transformative education, sustainability-oriented entrepreneurship as well as competence-based teaching and learning processes and methods.

Michael Ambros

Michael Ambros is working in teaching and educational development for sustainable entrepreneurship at the Centre for Global Change and Sustainability at the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences in Vienna. He has over ten years of professional experience in a multinational company in the automotive industry and in the Fair Trade sector. Due to his activities in business development and general management he is a proficient coach for students with ideas. He is passionate about creating an appropriate environment for motivated people enabling them to develop their ideas into viable business models.

Ester Konarova

Masaryk University Brno

Bio

Ester Konarova is a project administrator at Masaryk University in Brno, Czech Republic. She manages the administration part of project CASE. She has been managing NGO’s and researcher’s projects (Erasmus +, EEA and Norway Grants, The Technology Agency of the Czech Republic, etc.) for 3 years. She has been interested in social entrepreneurship since her University studies and participated in two social business projects – Bajkazyl and Symbios – running in Brno. Her diploma thesis was focused on measuring the benefits of social entrepreneurship.

Josef Sedlak

Bio

Josef Sedlak is a social entrepreneur, moderator and project manager for CASE. He has been working as a trainer for sustainable entrepreneurs for many years, started in 2016 two social enterprises and is now the project manager for CASE.

Claudia Lindner

Universität Bozen

Bio

Claudia Lindner is a Junior Professor of Sociology at the Free University of Bolzano, Faculty of Education. She studied Social Science at the Free University of Bolzano and at Ca’Foscari University of Venice, Italy. She wrote her dissertation on migrant entrepreneurship and graduated in 2015 at the Free University of Bolzano. Her research interests are sustainable development, transformative science, migrant entrepreneurship and sustainable socio-economic integration of refugees.

Mara Bauer

University of Vechta, Germany

Bio

Mara Bauer is an environmental scientist and a research assistant at the University of Vechta in North-West Germany. She holds a Master’s degree in Human Ecology from Lund University. Her general research interest is in sustainability and environmental politics. Currently she focuses on sustainability governance within higher education institutions.

Susanne Elsen

University of Bolzano

Bio

Susanne Elsen is Professor for Sociology at the Free University of Bolzano. Studies in Socialwork, Sociology, Educational Sciences and Economics, PhD University of Trier, Habilitation Technical University of Dresden. She has research- and development experiences in the field of community development and local economy in Europe, Asia and Latin America.Her main topics of research: Social Innovation, Local Development and Community Economy, Sustainability and Post Growth Society.

Bohuslav Binka

Masaryk University Brno

Bio

Bohuslav Binka is the head of Department of Environmental Studies at Faculty of Social Studies (Masaryk University), completed a semester-long study stay at the Catholic University in the United States and a semester-long research stay at Glasgow University in Scotland. The winner of the Josef Vavroušek Prize in the category of science and research work (for his dissertation) awarded by the Faculty of Social Sciences of Charles University in Prague and the Petra and Josef Vavroušek Foundation. He works on environmental ethics and the history of environmental movements. He is the author of the publications Environmentální etika [Environmental ethics] and co-author of John Ruskin a příroda [John Ruskin and Nature] (2011).

Gabriela Schaad

School of Business, Economics and Law in Gothenburg

Bio

Gabriela Schaad PhD Gabriela Schaad is a researcher and lecturer at the School of Business, Economics and Law in Gothenburg, Sweden, since 2012. Her research and teaching interests include environmental strategies and sustainable management with a focus on industrial transitions towards renewable energy and technology. In the CASE project she has mainly worked with the evaluation of the pilot courses and cooperation formats.

Public Transport

Campus WU is located between the two U2 subway stations Messe-Prater and Krieau. The Library & Learning Center (LC) is roughly the same distance from each of the two subway stations (5–10 minutes). To access Campus WU from the west (WU Executive Academy, Administration, Department Buildings 3, 4, and 5, Library & Learning Center), please use the U2 subway station Messe-Prater, exit Messe. To access Campus WU from the east (Teaching Center, Student Center, Department Buildings 1 and 2, Library & Learning Center), please use the U2 subway station Krieau, exit Krieau. Bus line 82A (stop Krieau) and streetcar line 1 (stop Prater Hauptallee) also stop close to Campus WU.

By Bike

Approximately 1,000 bicycle parking spaces are located along the bike path circling the perimeter of the campus. Around 250 of these parking spaces are located in bike garages (access for pass holders only). Citybike bike sharing stations are located at the south entrance of Campus WU and at the subway stations Messe-Prater and Krieau.

By foot

Its a great walk through the Wiener Prater to reach here. Enjoy your walk!

By car

The underground parking garage is located under the main boulevard running through the campus. The entrance to the garage is on Trabrennstrasse. The garage has 411 parking spaces; 180 spaces are for short-term parking, the rest is reserved for long-term pass holders. There are four exits to the campus from the garage.
